True and scary....A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom at their Mauilocation. When he got back, he wascomplaining that the storeroom was really filthy, and that hehad noticed dried mouse or rat droppings insome areas.A couple of days later he started feeling like he was comingdown with stomach flu, achy joints, headache, and he startedthrowing up. He went to bed and never really got up. Within twodays he was so ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to66 and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to theemergency at Pali Momi, where they said he was suffering frommassive organ failure!The doctor, in ER, transferred him to St. Francis Hospital andnotify all his relatives as he didn't had long to live. In theICU of St. Francis Hospital, a team of doctors were tryingdesperately to stabilize him. They said even if by some miraclehe pulled through, he would need a new liver, kidneys, pancreasand bladder. He died shortly before midnight.None of us would have ever made the connection between his joband his death, but the doctors specifically asked if he had beenin a warehouse or exposed to dried rat or mouse droppings at anytime.They said there is a virus (much like Hanta virus) that lives indried rat and mouse droppings. Once dried, these droppings arelike dust, and can easily be inhaled or ingested if a person isnot careful to wash their hands and face thoroughly, or wearprotective gear.An autopsy is being conducted to verify the doctors' suspicionsand tissue samples have been sent to the CDC in Atlanta.Please be extremely careful to always rinse off the tops of anycanned sodas or foods, and wipe off pasta packaging, cerealboxes, etc. Almost everything you buy in a supermarket wasstored in a warehouseat one time or another, and stores themselves often haverodents. I worked in grocery store long enough to know that eventhe cleanest store has mice or rats.*Canned Drinks*Whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure thatyou wash the top with running water andsoap, or if not available, drink with a straw. A family friend'sfriend died after drinking a can of soda! Apparently, she didnot clean the top before drinking from the can. The top wasencrusted with dried rat's urine which is toxic and obviouslylethal!!!! Canned drinks and other food stuffs are stored inwarehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodentsand then get transported to the retail outlets withoutbeing properly cleaned.Please forward this message to the people you care about....*********************************************Ini juga yg pernah berlaku pada saya 2 tahun yglepas(1998)...Sewaktu pregnant anak sulung 5 bulan..liver,pankreas saya membengkak..masa tuh kulit dan mata saya belumkeluar kuning lagi...Dr ingat hepatitis atau barah hati..semasakandungan mencapai 71/2 bulan saya demam panas, muntah, sesaknafas dan badan rasa lemah sangat..saya dimasukkan ke PantaiMedical Centre ..ditahan di ICU..anak dlm kandungan seperti takbergerak..kerana kesukaran bernafas..Dr terpaksa koma kan sayadan selang sehari kemudian anak saya terpaksa dilahirkan tanpasaya sedar kerana sudah turun dan baru meninggal...8 hari sayadikomakan dan 2 minggu di ICU (saya diasingkan dlm bilik yg cumasuami yg dibenarkan masuk)..Dr masih tidak tahu punca virus ygmenyerang saya...sewaktu bersalin saya tumpah darah dengan terukdan dimasukkan lebih 30 pain darah baru..Mujur saya mempunyai sahabatdan saudara mara yg baik dan mereka mendermakan darah lebih darimencukupi...lebih 50 org dtg menderma...sehingga pekerja diblood lab pun suka.. Setelah dipindahkan kebilik ward (masihtidak dibenarkan menerima pelawat) masih belum tahu punca dan 10hari lagi saya di tahan utk dimasukkan ubat antibiotik hinggabengkak lengan saya krn tak dptmenerimanya lagi...rupanya virus yg menyerang saya itu dipanggilLaptospirosis( virus yg terdapat dlm kencing tikus) ..tak tahuler mana saya dapat... Syukur Alhamdulillah..Allah masihpanjangkan umursaya...jika terlambat dan virus sudah merosakkan buah pinggangdan otak saya..tentu saya sudah tiada lagi...Rupanya teruk betulakibat dari jangkitan virus yg didapati dari haiwan2 sepertitikus, kucing dll...~anon~
